Atomic Habits

Obviously, a very successful book that I’m sure many of you have heard about, and I would highly recommend reading it.

Habits, good and bad, are part of the human condition. Our brains are wired for them, and many times, especially today, we find ourselves locked into a habit we never intended on picking up. This book 1) explains the “Why” behind that, 2) explains how to make or break habits, and 3) preaches patience and understanding for ourselves. It not only delivers actionable steps you can take to immediately begin building the habits you’re wanting, but Clear does so without getting high-and-mighty on you. I think that’s the beauty of the book, he provides a lot of insight into the psychology and biology of how our brains are wired and always does so with a voice of understanding.

After reading it a second time, my main takeaway is that habit formation or implementing new actions is a marathon, it’s a test in patience. We need to be ok with taking smaller bites more often rather than the whole thing at once.
